题识：万历戊子（1584）之夏，宋旭绘牛首烟峦。|钤印：初穤|边跋：明宋旭山水佳作，米景扬识于十墨山房。钤印：米景扬 |作者简介：宋旭，字初穤，号石门、石门山人，后为僧，法名祖玄，又号天池发僧、景西居士。浙江湖州人，为苏松画派的先声，吴门派支流。博宗内外典，通禅理。善山水，兼长人物。万历间名重海内。师沈周，学有师承，故出笔逈不犹人。其山头树木，苍劲古拙，巨幅大幛，颇有气势。与云间莫廷韩，入芟山社绘白雀寺壁，时称妙绝。赵左、沈士充、宋懋晋等都出于他的门下。
