刘继卣（1918-1983）：天津人，杰出的连环画艺术大师，新中国连环画奠基人、被誉为"当代画圣"，"东方的伦勃朗和米盖朗基罗"。是近现代中国画家中少有的工笔白描、重彩、小写意、大写意俱能的画家，题材也非常全面，除人物、动物能穷极妙理外，也兼擅花鸟、山水。尤其以他的工笔人物画和写意走兽画的成就最为突出。
