Description: Two large framed images, in one of which is the Buddha Amitabha, called Amida Butsu in Japan, enthroned before a golden nimbus with a group of venerators before him. The other painting features an expansive scene with many people in front of a temple complex and a mountain ridge in the background. The borders and filler spaces feature extremely fine nishikide, the patterns floral, geometric or composed of the Chinese leiwen meander. On the bottom is the Shimazu family crest and the partially fragmentary inscription SATSU-MA 薩 摩 with RYO-ZAN 嶺 山 ga 画 (painted it) to its left.
