Silk with multi-colored silk threads, woven application borders, embroidered sleeve bands, inside with silk lining, four fabric buttons and loops at the front China, 1920s This bright red silk Lady’s robe shows vivid embroidery decoration in rich colors. To each side are three roundels with vivid sceneries of lovers, dignitaries and disciples as well as a fighting scene. Floral arrangements, vegetal shapes and butterflies round off the composition. The hems at the lower part, collar and sleeves are featuring a broad, flower and butterfly band embroidered in blue hues. The light blue silk sleeve bands are decorated with flowers, fruits and vessels, partially executed in Peking knot stitch.
