Textured silk with multi-colored silk and gold brocade threads, with pierced, woven application borders, embroidered bands at the hems and embroidered silk sleeve bands, inside with silk lining, four fabric buttons and loops at the front China, late Qing dynasty This bright blue Changyi robe shows delicate satin stitch embroidery of floral arrangements in vessels as well as smaller floral and vegetal shapes. At the hems woven borders are applied and joined by a broad embroidered band with floral decoration and Buddhist symbols, highlighted using gold brocade. Richly decorated, creme colored silk bands with flowers, birds, butterflies and rocks, crafted in Peking knot stitch, further adorn the sleeves.
