Jun Yao stoneware bowl - China, Golden age
Square with fluted sides, grey celadon craquelure glaze, with dark crimson spot. Four pernette impressions and two tags on the back, one reading "Hancock 37 Bury St SW1 St James", and the other, faded, reading "Ashmolean Mus on loan from FC HARRIS [...]".
The archivist of Oxford's Ashmolean Museum graciously confirmed for us that Mr. F.C Harrison loaned over one-hundred spotted monochrome pieces starting in 1906. The loan was returned to its owner around 1925.
