|砚台依型就势浮雕梅花纹，精美雅致。取端溪老坑佳石为质，质地坚韧润密，抚之如肌，磨之有锋，贮水不耗，呵气可研，品质极佳。此砚纹饰雕琢精美，规格较大，为一件难得的文房收藏佳器。带老木盒，盒上题「老坑梅花砚」，落「李氏藏砚」款。|老坑：又称水岩，因它开坑采石年代久远，历史较长，故称老坑；又因洞内长年累月为泉水浸渍，故称水岩。自唐代开采至今。石色紫蓝，其石品花纹为鱼脑冻、蕉叶白、青花、玫瑰紫、火捺及石眼等，为端溪各名坑之冠。
