东汉文学家王逸在其著作《玉论》中赞玉之色为：“赤如鸡冠，黄如蒸栗，白如截脂，墨如纯漆，谓之玉符，而青玉独无说焉，今青白者常有，黑色时有，而黄赤者绝无”，黄玉之珍贵，可见一斑。 此观音像以整块上等黄玉圆雕而成，黄玉颜色为正黄色，不偏灰，也不泛绿，且玉质细腻，油性佳美，为黄玉之上品。观音为坐像，法相和熙，双目下视，唇角含笑，身着曳地襦裙，轻柔飘逸，垂坠自然；右手持净瓶，体态娴静秀丽，手足刻划细腻传神。张静：扬州玉雕名家。
