THREE SPANISH STEEL RAPIERS likely 17th century The first with turned wood pommel and engraved with foliate decoration and inscription, the second with turned pommel and chased hilt, the third possibly earlier with lobed wood pommel, the blade stamped with indistinct maker's mark. (3). L: 42 1/2 in. (longest) PROVENANCE: The Collection of Ambassador and Mrs. Alexander Weddell, Richmond, Virginia. Deaccessioned by The Virginia House Museum to benefit future preservation, acquisitions, and care of collections.
