此硯以端溪大西洞絕佳水岩製作，發色天青中又顯微紅，以指叩之發出清脆木聲。外形作菜葉形，完美利用了石材的天然形態。硯堂寬闊，稍稍下凹，硯額雕刻菜葉根蒂，順其而下留出墨池，此處之柔美實在妙不可言。硯側局部呈天然石相，留紅褐色皮，盡顯艷麗。硯背全體雕刻以葉脈，下部如菜葉天然捲起折疊，細微部獨具匠心地施以蟲蛀。菜葉脈理綿密柔和，一絲一絡無不散發著生命力。此硯高度體現了文人雅趣，實在精妙絕倫。以上內容引用自「觀硯錄」中對本作品的解說 背部刻銘「屈錡光製」 日本個人收藏 北畠五鼎・北畠雙耳 「観硯録」，1984年11月，講談社出版，P.57-60
