Pair Chinese 19 Century Porcelain Drum Boxes & Covers, the sides painted in Famille Rose Enamels with "Successful Boys" (playing successful adults); the sides with ribbing and bosses and pairs of bronze twisted wire handles in applied porcelain hooks, the covers with a bronze ring finial; 4 Character Seal marks to one in iron red. One cover with chip and associated hairline to mouth edge, the other with old over-spray to cover now discoloring. Height 7 3/8 inches (18.7 cm.) X diameter 7 1/2 inches (19 cm.). Provenance: Gracie & Sons, New York, with old labels to bases.
