《礼记》云：“七十曰耄，八十曰耋，百年曰期颐。”“猫”与“耄”，“蝶”与“耋”，均为谐音，故将猫、蝶合在一起，称为“耄耋富贵”。古人常以牡丹、蝶、猫之图组成图案，赠送老年长者，取其富贵吉祥、健康长寿之意。
这件则是由整块满色翡翠雕就的猫蝶富贵瓶，种老色靓，器件虽大但工艺精美。瓶底一只小猫从花丛中探身而出，仰首向上，双耳微竖，凝神静观；瓶身缠绕折枝花，枝叶繁茂，满坠豆荚；瓶顶黄翡俏色雕刻蝴蝶似闻香而至，轻盈落于枝蔓一端，与小猫遥遥相对，天上地下交相呼应，组成一幅完整的吉祥画面。
