盘为白玉质，玉质洁净，白中泛青。盘口宽阔，器壁较厚，周身光素无纹，尽显玉质无瑕之纯美。外底外壁和盘内用描金手法，饰过墙菊花一枝。边上一只蝴蝶闻香而来。金玉良缘，此之谓也。此类制作方法，为宫廷内典型陈设佳器。
