筆筒呈扁圓形，採用高浮雕技法，刻山巒重疊，壑深林密，溪水蜿蜒，奔流潺急，華蓋車輦隱現。空白處留有陰刻“宗玉”。顧宗玉，名玨，是清(Qing Dynasty)1694-1912早期嘉定地區竹刻名家。此作刀法靈透，構圖緊湊，層次分明，毫無滯澀之感，確是一件優秀作品。
