Lamaic bowl, China, 19th century
Gilt bronze, decorated with a dragon, phoenix, and Buddhist Lamas. The dragon and phoenix indicate that the object is Chinese despite the effigies of Tibetan Lamas. During the Qing dynasty, Lamaism became quite popular among the Manchu emperors. This bowl may be from the Yonghegong Temple in Beijing.
H: 12 cm; D: 15.5 cm
