Benjamin E. Aymar Initialed Chinese 19 Century Gold & Iron Red 5-Claw Dragon Porcelain Plate from the Aymar Family Service. Age related wear to iron red and gold highlights, small chip to edge with old associated short hairline. Diameter 7 3/4 inches (19.8 cm.). POROVENANCE: Benjamin E. Aymar (1792-1876) of the shipping house of Aymar & Co. was one of the oldest merchants of the City of New York when he died. This plate was sold by Valdemar F Jacobsen of Cold Spring Harbor Long Island with his label attached to the reverse. Jacobsen was the pre-eminent Americana Dealer to the Long Island Gold Coast Collectors through the 20th century.
