此尊雪山大士相貌奇古，肉髻微耸，方面长耳，双眉弯曲，略含笑意，蕴藉自然。大士呈左舒坐式，耸肩屈肘，双手扶膝，以表现其深山独处，泰然坐禅的情景。其造型准确，比例均称，结构合理，雕工考究。整体风格古朴，意趣清简，情志舒朗，别具一格。佛典称释迦牟尼在过去世修菩萨道时，于雪山苦行，绝形深涧不涉人间，谓之雪山大士。其形象多流传于元明清时期。
