LOUIS PHILIPPE 1er, DUC d'ORLEANS (1773 1850)
Louis-Philippe 1er (1773-1850), Duke of Orleans and his sister Adelaide acquire in 1821 the Château de Randan, built in the 16th century and 40 hectares. In 1822, they ordered the restoration of existing buildings and an extension to the architect Pierre Fontaine.
Letter written by Louis-Philippe, Duke of Orleans, dated "Randan, Monday, October 12, 1829". 3 full pages.
He first evokes his well-being in the field and his exploitation of the forest. He then explains the extension of his stay there because of "the uncertainty of the time when the King of Naples will cross the South of France to take this new Queen to Spain, whom Ferdinand VII is impatiently awaiting. Finally, he discusses the writing work of Jean Vatout (perhaps his half-brother) over the two hundred years of the Royal Palace history from 1629 to 1829, he asked him for modifications mainly concerning the trial of the French Theater. This is where he asks his interlocutor for his good and excellent advice. He ends with "Send them to me as soon as you possible, I kiss you".
