寄喻十分美好的砚屏，屏心雕琢玉象，一派吉庆。玉象身着装饰，修饰双钱，寓意福寿双全；大象则为太平有象之意，意思是时世安乐，天下太平。 此物尺寸观之，当是砚屏之用，为文房器具。砚屏至少宋代已经普及，传说还是苏轼和黄庭坚所创。宋人赵希鹄在《洞天清禄集》说：古无砚屏，自东坡、山谷始作砚屏。 这件作品从屏心的玉器可知，等级不低。整体造型古朴典雅，合嵌规范，做工一丝不苟。作为陈设观赏则稳重大方，搭配屏心玉象，稳重中不失活泼，是一件文房陈设精品。
