玉佩白玉透雕而成，镂雕海东青飞于一只大雁上，正伺机捕攫，画面主题鲜明。这种特殊题材的纹饰是金代“春水”玉的延续，女真人建立金国后，其服饰制度明确规定以鹘捕鹅为饰，“金人之常服四……其束带曰吐鹘……其从春水之服则多鹘捕鹅，杂花卉之饰。”同类器物可参见无锡元代钱裕墓出土的鹘捕天鹅图案的玉饰，参阅《中国玉器全集》第5卷图一九七。
