A fine Chinese blue, white and copper red 'Master of the Rocks' brush pot, Kangxi Dia.: 19,5 - H.: 16,5 cm Provenance: A private collection in the province of Friesland, The Netherlands. It is very unusual to find blue and white brushpots in this style with added highlights of underglaze copper-red, however one example in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated by Chen Runmin, Qing Shunzhi Kangxi Chao Qinghuaci, Beijing, 2005, no. 222. Ref.: - A related flaring brush pot was exhibited with Marchant and Son, London, and later part of the Jarras Collection, sold at Christie's, London, June 13, 1990, and later offered at Bonham's, London, on Nov. 7, 2013.
