款识：癸未长至日书为子莱大兄，之定。 钤印：蔡之定印（白）、积谷山人（朱）、匋慈俭堂（朱） 说明 释文：秋夜读书图蔡之定（1745-1830），字麟昭，号生甫，晚号积谷山人，德清人。乾隆五十八年进士，嘉庆元年授编修，继任高宗实录馆总篡，嗣升国子监司业、侍讲学士。五年后，历任顺天乡试同考宫、会试同考官、河南正主考。擅书法，与翁方纲、刘塘、铁保号称四大书家。
