Han-style Apron Skirt, Baizhequn, China, late 19th century, pale aqua silk, the front and back panels embroidered with a front-facing dragon in couched gold thread, surrounded by bats, ruyi clouds, and real and mythical birds, all above crashing waves and lishui stripes, the pleats embroidered with dragons and phoenixes, trimmed with black silk and blue on black floral bands, lg. 40 in.
