This is Bronze Sculpture is of Leda and the Swan is a motif from Greek mythology in which Zeus came to Leda in the form of a swan. The story goes that Zeus took the form of a swan and raped or seduced Leda on the same night she slept with her husband King Tyndareus. According to later Greek mythology, Leda bore Helen and Polydeuces, children of Zeus. Leda is seen seated with both hands, she caresses his neck, in complete resignation to the stare of the seducing god Zeus, as with his beak he lets fall the robe from her shoulders. The Sculpture was cast using the archaic method of lost wax casting and finished with a brown patina stain for preservation and is mounted upon a marble base. Dimensions: Height 16 X Width 8 inches. Weight: 23 LBS.
