In 1883 he began to study at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts where he later used to work as a painter. Especially popular were his portraits of horses, presumably commissioned works by the owners. In addition Beielstein produced portraits and genre scenes as well. His works were represented, amongst others, at the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin.
