和田白玉籽料，制成长方形砚，形制方正规矩，四周裁切利落，砚面饰博古瓶纹，瓶口为砚堂，瓶体周围形成砚池。此玉砚选料上乘，玉质致密细润，形制小巧，装饰素雅。古代砚台基本都以石材制作，如端砚、歙砚等，此玉砚原配红木盒存放。玉砚是研朱砂之用，朱批就是用朱砂。
