A HEAVY ROSEWOOD BRUSHPOT China, 20th century. Of smooth cylindrical form, the wood is of a light reddish-brown tone with natural grain and some scattered ghost striations. The central cavity to the top is 7.5 cm deep. Condition: Good condition with traces of use and tiny age cracks. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
