A HEAYV AND LARGE LAPIS LAZULI "DRAGON" PLAQUE Sino-Tibetan, 1st half of the 20th century. Depicting a dragon carved in high relief on the front and a chilong to the back side. The drilling on the back of the plaque suggest that it may have been hung as a votive ornament. The stone of a deep blue and grey tone with gold inclusions. Condition: Good condition with expected surface wear. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
