A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN 'FLORAL' CHARGER FOR THE ISLAMIC MARKET, KANGXI China, Kangxi period (1662-1722). Boldly painted to the interior of the gently curved body with a central reverse-decorated star design encircled by alternating circles and rhombuses followed by a double-circle from which stiff leaves radiate, surrounded by scrolling vines and stylized flowers and leaves, all below a broad floral band and a narrow geometric border below the rim and repeated to the exterior, above evenly spaced pendent beads and a palm-blade border above the foot. Condition: The charger was broken in several pieces and has been reattached, several small chips and one larger section (ca. 10 x 3 cm) to the rim with material filling and touchups. Provenance: From an old family collection in Pressburg, Austrian Empire, Slovakia, and thence by descent to the present owner. Weight: 1,914 g Dimensions: Diameter 36 cm
