A RITUAL COPPER 'DRAGON' BOWL Vietnam, 17th - 18th century. Rising from a circular recessed base and cast with high relief decoration on the outer wall, showing a pair of dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl. The underside incised with references to royal descents of Champa and Vietnam. Condition: Very good condition commensurate with age, traces of age and wear, some scratches and nicks here and there, as well as rich patina with areas of malachite-green. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
