TWO MEHRGARH LAPIS LAZULI, STEATITE AND SEA SHELL NECKLACES South Asia, Pakistan, Mehrgarh, Neolithic period (c. 4.800-4.500 BC) and Burma. The first necklace consisting of 26 handmade rhomboidal steatite whitish beads as well as 21 handmade deep-blue lapis lazuli beads from Badakshan in Afghanistan and very tiny green glass separation beads from Burma. Elegant and interesting in its form at the same time. The second necklace, very simple and delicate, consisting of 19 steatite and sea shells flat rhomboidal as well as miniature green glass beads from Burma. Beads from Burma are older than 1000 years. Both necklaces with a modern silver clasp and a modern velvet pouch. Condition: Very good condition with minor traces of age and wear. Some steatite beads with fine brownish patina. Provenance: Private collection of a German artist and collector living in Southeast Asia. Weight: 15.8 g and 35.0 g Dimensions: Length 43 cm (necklace with 19 steatite beads) and 51.5 cm (necklace with 26 steatite beads)
