Battle Scene Monogrammed and dated 1852 lower right Annotated on the reverse Ink on paper, 25.9 x 33.1 cm Provenance: Acquired directly from the family of the artist, thence by descent to the present owner Note: The present lot depicts a scene from the history of the Dukes of Burgundy belonging to the House of Valois - most likely the Battle of Mons-en-Vimeu in 1421. Philip the Good, also called Philip III of Burgundy (1396-1467), was Duke of Burgundy from 1419 until his death. In 1421 he finds himself in the middle of a battle near Abeville.
