An unusual pair of William IV parcel-gilt silver goblets by William Barrett (II), London, 1834 Thistle form with detachable frieze of fluted pumpkins, engraved to one side with a lion passant crest inside a buckle and strap cartouche inscribed with German motto ‘In Gott Allein’, and initialled ‘J.E.E.S.’ , possibly for the Schuster family, the fluted column stem descending to a large knop above a flat circular detachable foot chased with a band of undulating ivy on a frosted ground, 12.7cm high, 10.5 oz (326 gm).
