Sukhothai style Buddha, unsure of dating. It is thinly cast, though I've had a number of authentic 13th to 14thC Thai Buddhas that were very thinly cast, in both Utong and Sukhothai styles. I have been told bronze was scarce during that period. Some of the Buddhas have had wafer-thin walls, and during that period of scarce bronze, other revered Buddhas had their bases removed and melted down and used to make other Buddha images. Not a refined casting, but classic and powerful and nicly sculpted. Looks to be a true wax cast one of a kind. The only odd thing is that some shiny metal shows though that does not look right. The patina is so good, however, that I'm not convinced it is modern. Price is set to reflect my uncertainty. Examine the photos and decide for yourself. No matter the age, a beautiful compelling Buddha.
