Rare Chinese 19th Century Clair de Lune glaze over Crackle Porcelain Vase with unglazed Elephant Handles to neck in brown slip at a clear glazed scallop-carved edge forming a flared band of Ruyi in blue and further bands of Bats in Clouds and "100 Boys", the base with the remains of an unglazed brown slip seal. Height 15 1/4 inches (38.5 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased from Warren E Cox Oriental Antiques, East 39th Street, Manhattan. Mr Cox wrote “Lighting and Lamp Design,” 1952, where he gained his initial success by making lamps of rare antiques and selling them to wealthy buyers, including. J. P. Morgan.
