壺體為圓形，通體及蓋、紐均雕作瓜棱狀，腹部一側凸雕羊首為流，肩部設3個系紐，上接3柄如意形銅胎掐絲琺瑯質地的提梁。 銅壺是清代宮廷重要的生活用品之一，樣式極多，除羊首壺外，尚有鳳首壺、龍首壺等，還有與杯、盤成套者。此壺以瓜棱形作器身，以羊首作流，結合了動物和植物的題材，又將銅器鏨刻、鎏金集於一器，造型新穎別致，從質地到作工均屬上乘，為清代不可多得的藝術珍品。
