Pocket Watch: rare 22K triple case repoussé verge watch with extremely rare high relief representation 'The Return of the Prodigal Son', John Curtis London No.2458, 1784: Ca. Ø54mm, ca. 116g, glazed protective case, ray skin decoration, 23K gold pair case, outer case of extremely rare quality with exceptionally well preserved high relief, representation of a biblical scene with 5 persons and a camel, inner case with London Hallmarks from 1784, signed and numbered verge movement with pillars, signed enamel dial (fine hairline), gilt hands, intact, in very beautiful condition, only the ray skin of the protective case has imperfections. John Curtis worked from about 1770-1790 and is known for his high relief cases, mostly made for the Dutch market. A comparable case No.5921 is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Another well-known watch is No.5918, auctioned in Geneva (https://www.cortrie.de/go/q1d).
