People's Artist of the USSR.Mikhail Mikhailovich God of God was born on September 20, 1911 in Nikolaev in the family of a worker at a shipyard.From 1930 to 1933, M. Bozhiy studied at the Nikolaev Art College, where Krainev Danila Karpovich (1872 - 1949) was one of his teachers.In 1936, Mikhail and his wife moved to Odessa. He worked as an animator at the Odessa Film Factory.He first exhibited his work in 1938 at the regional art exhibition. He made his debut with several portrait sketches.During the years of World War II, an artist who, due to his state of health, was not taken to the front, created posters and satirical drawings. After the liberation of Odessa in April 1944, M. Bozhiy began active creative work. As a result of this period of creativity, the artist presented seven portraits at the IX Republican exhibition in 1947. A truly mature work was the painting of God, "Portrait of a student of Svetlana Shipunova," painted in 1950. This work brought God's great success, putting his name among the best masters of the post-war period. The artist’s new creative success was the painting "Nurse" (1955)."Portrait of an excellent student" and "Nurse" were exhibited at many all-Union and foreign exhibitions. At the world exhibition in Brussels in 1957, M. Bozhiy was awarded a bronze medal for the painting "Nurse", and a silver medal at the exhibition of fine art of socialist countries in Moscow in 1959.The talent and work of the artist were highly appreciated. Mikhail Mikhailovich God - a full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR since 1962, People's Artist of the USSR since 1963. He was awarded the title of Laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR named after T. G. Shevchenko for his paintings "20th Century. V.I. Lenin" (1964 - 1967), "New Time" (1969).He was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 6th and 7th convocations.He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.God Died Mikhail Mikhailovich January 1, 1990 in Odessa.The artist’s works are stored in the Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts and the Museum of Russian Art in Kiev, in many art museums in Ukraine and abroad.
