拍品以湘妃竹制成，厚度甚薄，或作书签使用，在文房器中殊为少见。淡黄底色，浅刻山水图，与褐色斑纹相映成趣。画面中山石耸立，树木葱郁，云气弥漫，高士静坐船头观景，右上角镌“一贯”引首章，为典型清早期风格。拍品浅刻纹饰加填墨彩，其中高士衣服、山石块面施以火烙，此种装饰方法与安徽省博物馆藏明象牙雕蹴鞠图笔筒相同。局部火烙工艺见于明晚期至清早期，且不同于清晚期葫芦器谓之火绘者，传世品仅数件象牙笔筒，施之于竹雕者甚少，尤为珍贵。湘妃竹是一种珍贵的竹材，以其天然斑纹著称，历来为人所珍视。参阅：《中国竹木牙角器全集·4·牙角器》，文物出版社，2009年，页13，图17
