荸荠瓶为清代流行的一种瓶式，清代康熙年首创。本品直口，粗长颈，斜肩，扁圆腹，圈足外撇，因瓶腹部酷似荸荠而得名，器形端庄规正，古朴大方。通体饰鳝鱼黄釉，釉色黄润，犹如黄鳝皮色，故名。
鳝鱼黄釉属高温黄釉，经高温氧化焰烧成时析出结晶。清早期御窑厂烧制日益成熟，其烧造工艺随着时代的变化，釉色亦不断完善。
