A Pair of Chinese Double Peacock Dishes Of curved octagonal form, decorated in famille rose enamels, the central panel with a brightly coloured peacock and peahen perched on a rock formation under a towering peony branch in full bloom, surrounded by a band of gilt fleur-de-lis, the wide rim decorated with chrysanthemum and lotus on a scrolling vine, the outer edge decorated with a diaper-pattern border in rouge-de-fer alternating with narrow blue scrolls, the base unglazed. Period: Qianlong (1736-1795). Length: 28.5 and 29.5 cm.
