钤印：顾昉之印款识：庚戌春三月仿元人笔法，若周顾昉。 顾昉［清］，字日方，一字元始，号若周，又号晚皋，一号耕云，华亭（今上海松江）人。擅画山水，师法董源、巨然及元四家，笔墨清隽而高厚，其画法在当时被视为“虞山派”正宗嫡派。康熙二十八年（1689）康熙帝第二次南巡归来，诏画《南巡图》，由都察院左副都御史宋骏业召集名手绘制，王翚于康熙三十年（1691）入京，主持绘制《圣祖南巡图》，顾昉与杨晋成为王翚的左右手。王翚颇为器重顾昉，称他的画“深入古人之室，而笔无纤尘，墨具五色，别有逸致”，从而声名大起。后游两粤、赣南，声价日重，尤工摹仿。
