† A MONUMENTAL GILT LACQUER ‘MOUNTAIN’ PANEL, CANTON, QING DYNASTY China, 1800-1850. Black lacquer and gilt on wood panel. Depicting a mountain and river panorama with minuscule figures in pursuit of various activities, framed by a border with floral motifs. Turquoise, red and light pink accents.

Provenance: From a French private collection.
Condition: Very good condition with minor old wear, mostly to gilt, little flaking, few touchups, a small repair to the top, the panel with age-related fissures, and natural patina overall.
