A ‘BANDED AGATE’ OVERLAY GLASS VASE, 18TH CENTURY China. Of ovoid form, supported on a thick, spreading foot and rising to a waisted neck with everted lip. Finely carved through the outer layer of richly banded colors in shades of reddish-brown, pale green, and bright blue to the translucent milky-white body with a deer and flying crane to one side and a bear and hawk on the other, all amid gnarled pine trees in remarkably high relief.

Provenance: UK market, by repute acquired from a British private collection.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and manufacturing flaws, including swirls and bubbles, possibly with scattered microscopic nibbles to exposed areas.
