密教将文殊奉为佛部的部主，并作为本尊修持。其头戴花冠，颜面端丽，略带汉族人的容貌特征。身着菩萨璎珞装，项饰由系列环链组成，繁缛而华丽，与菩萨慈悲智慧的内在刻划互为表里。全跏趺坐。双手当胸作说法印及禅定印，风空二指各捻莲花茎，上绕至肩，右置宝剑，左奉经书。宝剑表示菩萨的智慧如利剑，能斩除一切烦恼；经书代表般若智慧浩瀚如经卷。此像以失蜡法浇铸而成，像身厚重，作工精致，鎏金完好。
