行炉为行走中持握燃香之用。一端为柄，用以持握。此器为长柄炉的典型制式，承炉敞口，斜沿，口处折沿，腹向下微收，杯底为瓣状，长柄与承炉底部略作修饰。因长柄尾端下折似鹊尾，因此称鹊尾炉。炉柄扁而长，弯曲贴灯身至底部相接，另一侧弯折。炉身与柄尾设计在同一平面，既可持行，又可放置。 鹊尾炉在古代一度极为盛行，多用于礼佛行香，是种高等级的香器。然而时移世易，鹊尾炉至今存世凤毛麟角。
