Very special antique stone Bodhisattva. Possibly Chinese, though the face does not look like anything I have seen before. Graceful, beautifully carved and sculpted. Surface patina and pitting suggest it is many hundreds of years old. Stands 13.5 inches tall, 14.5 inches on custom stand. An all-time personal favorite. I had originally thought this might be Japanese, but the person I purchased it from told me his grandparent brought this out of China in the early part of the 20th century when the emigrated to the USA. Tremendous grace.
