玉笄为白玉所制，质地润白细糯，局部灰褐沁色，琢细圆玉针，线条修长流畅，触感温厚。笄首雕刻兽面饕餮纹，兽面呈对称布局，双目凸起，浮雕高鼻，卷角，细部饰短阴刻线，方折勾连，线条自然流畅。兽面威严而又神秘。笄，古代女子用以装饰发耳的一种簪子，用来插住挽起的头发，或插住帽子。
