Offered unframed.Ivan Konstantin Aivazovsky was a Russian-Armenian Romantic painter known for his depictions of seascapes, for which he is considered one of the greatest marine artists in history. He was born on July 29, 1817 in Feodosia, Russia and was baptized as Hovhannes Aivazian. He went on to study at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg before traveling throughout Europe, living briefly in Italy. When he returned to Russia in the early 1940s, he was appointed the official painter of the Russian navy and made an academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Over the course of his 60-year career, he produced approximately 6,000 paintings and held 55 solo exhibitions in Europe and the United States. The phrase “worthy of Aivazovsky’s brush” was coined by the writer Anton Chekhov in his 1897 play Uncle Vanya, solidifying the artist’s lasting importance to the history of Russian art. Aivazovsky’s house in Feodosia was opened as the Aivazovsky National Art Gallery in 1800, where it remains a tourist attraction. He died on May 2, 1900 in Feodosia, Russia. We present a picture of the great artist I.K. Aivazovsky, which is the author's repetition of his epic work "Storm in the North Sea." Aivazovsky happened to visit the North Sea, which is famous for its strong storms and winds, which today greatly complicate navigation, and in Aivazovsky's time, were the cause of frequent shipwrecks.Storms and shipwrecks were a favorite motif in the work of I. K. Aivazovsky. “Storm in the North Sea” is one of the most significant works of I. K. Aivazovsky on the theme of the struggle of man with the elements. By his own admission, the master created the picture on a high creative upsurge because the plot of this work inspired him the most. In this work, the high skill of the artist was fully manifested. The picture impresses with its virtuoso performance technique and emotional richness. It impresses with its epic scope and particular intense coloring. The painting depicts a shipwreck at night on the high seas, against the backdrop of a sky illuminated by bright moonlight. The artist skillfully showed torn clouds, a hurricane wind, a ship among huge waves, a full moon peering through black clouds and illuminating the raging waves with bright light, a sinking ship, and a group of exhausted people on the wreckage of the masts.Shipping cost incluing pack ange deliver to US address 100 USD and International 300 USD.
