Keith HARING (American artist, 1958 –1990) ‘Crucifixion’ (1982) Hand signed with pencil and ‘A.P’ numbered (Artist prove)Etching on handmade paperTotal sheet size: 28.5 x 24 cmEstimate: 1,000 - 1,500 EuroBIOGRAPHY – Keith HARING, one of the most iconic, prolific, and most recognizable artists of the last century, brought his 1980s, pop-graffiti aesthetic centered on bold lines against rhythmic backgrounds to his often politically charged work. Unlike earlier “pop” artists, Haring dealt with the biggest issues of his time, including drug use, nuclear disarmament, and, maybe most significantly, AIDS.– Haring strived to create truly democratic art, drawing in the New York City subway system or on the streets of the East Village, creating more than 50 public artworks, and opening up his famous Pop Shop, which made his work accessible to millions of people worldwide in the form of consumer products. This continues today, including collaborations with Uniqlousa, Adidas and Supremeneywork. Haring was also a committed activist, establishing the Keith Haring Foundation, who has granted millions of dollars to organizations dedicated to art, children’s education, and HIV/AIDS causes since 1989. Keith Haring died on February 16, 1990, just two years after his diagnosis, from AIDS-related complications. He was only 31 years old.Condition: Very Good(Please refer to department for Condition report. You can find the biography of this artist in our digital catalogue for this sale)
